Owner Jamie Hartzog spent many years working closely with her parents, learning the business from the ground up before purchasing the company when they retired. With over 20 years of experience, Jamie has continued to grow Blinds and Designs by focusing on what she values most — quality work, honest advice, and taking the time to really care for each client.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the lead time for Hunter Douglas products from order to installation?

    Lead time is about 4-6 weeks, although lead times can vary depending on product.

  • If I order a sheer fabric, does it give me nighttime privacy?

    No. Although some sheer fabrics can provide daytime privacy, if you can see through the fabric, it will not provide privacy at night.

  • If I bring a Hunter Douglas shade in for repair, how long does it take?

    If we’re able to complete the repair at our showroom with in stock parts, repairs are typically completed within 3-5 business days. In some cases, shades must be shipped directly to Hunter Douglas for repair which may be determined by our experienced repair team after inspection.


  • If I get battery operated shades, how often do I have to change batteries?

    Hunter Douglas offers a rechargeable battery wand solution or internal charging battery that requires charging about every 9-12 months. 


  • If I want motorized shades and my house is under construction, what is the next step to setting up low voltage wiring?

    Make sure you are communicating with your on-site electrician. We have specific information we can send to them to ensure the process runs smoothly as well as provide FREE on-site wire run consultations if necessary.


  • I’m overwhelmed and not sure how to start the process or what product to choose, what should I do to get started?

    Give us a call and we can help! We offer free in-home consultations. Our consultants bring samples for the entire Hunter Douglas product line to help you select the product that can best fit your needs. While on site they will take window measurements and offer suggestions to help you. If you want to see Hunter Douglas products on display, you can also visit our showroom any time Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.


  • Do you have your own private installers that work for you or are they private contractors?

    Our installers work directly for Blinds and Designs. We do not hire private contractors.
